September 17, 2018 -- Arc Publishing, the platform-as-a-service business from The Washington Post, today announced it has signed Spain’s PRISA Noticias and will power digital publishing for their flagship brand El País, the world’s leading Spanish-language daily with more than 66 million digital readers. The agreement also includes Diario AS, one of the most influential sports news and information sites in the world, which draws more than 36 million readers.
“Arc Publishing continues to deliver exceptional multi-site capabilities, making the platform the leading choice for large media companies to streamline their workflows and modernize their entire tech stack while supporting many different properties and publishing teams,” said Scot Gillespie, CTO at The Washington Post. “This agreement greatly expands Arc Publishing’s global footprint, especially in the Spanish-language market where the platform is already well-established. We are excited to work with PRISA and El País to help them realize their digital ambitions and know that Arc Publishing’s extensive experience will add tremendous value to our collaboration.”
Working with the Arc Publishing team, El País will migrate their site, entire publishing system and newsroom workflow to the Arc Publishing platform, using the technology to manage the content and user experience across their Spanish, Portuguese and English editions. Following this, Diario AS will implement Arc Publishing, leveraging it to publish their country-specific editions which include Chile, Colombia, Mexico and the U.S.
“Working with The Washington Post and its Arc Publishing platform will allow us to maintain a continuous pace of innovation and experimentation as we strive to improve EL PAÍS and AS’s digital content, as well as gain a deeper insight into our reader communities and engage in an increasingly robust relationship with them,” said Noemí Ramírez, Chief Product and Customer Officer. “It will be a key tool as we continue strengthening the process of digital transformation of the newsrooms and that of both our advertising and user-supported business models.”
Agreement with PRISA Noticias also includes global sports site Diario AS, greatly expanding Arc Publishing’s global footprint
