Arc Publishing announces significant investment to support growth, expansion strategy
With this investment, Arc builds on its engineering strength, opening a dedicated engineering office in Chicago.
May 1, 2019 -- The Washington Post’s Arc Publishing, which powers sites around the world that serve more than 600 million unique visitors a month, announces a significant investment in the organization, adding nearly 100 new hires in the last 18 months to strengthen its ability to respond rapidly to client needs and support its expansion to serve broadcasters and brands. In the last year, Arc has experienced incredible growth, tripling revenue, expanding to new regions, and powering several large broadcasters.
“Arc’s growth has been exceptional and the platform has quickly become one of the go-to publishing systems in the world,” said Shailesh Prakash, Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Product at The Washington Post. “We have brought on senior level talent to help us scale the business and, under Scot Gillespie’s leadership, we have expanded significantly, adding more publishers and broadcasters as well as serving brands across industries. This investment positions Arc well for the future, ensuring engineering excellence, cutting-edge product development, and world-class service for our current and future clients.”
With this investment, Arc builds on its engineering strength, opening a dedicated engineering office in Chicago, IL led by Head of Platform Engineering Zach Perry. He is joined by David Zayas, technical architect of cloud automation, who focuses on deepening Arc’s integration with Amazon Web Services, and Nitin Alreja, technical architect of Arc’s subscription platform. This new facility supports Arc’s rapid innovation and allows the organization to tap into a regional talent pool rich in e-commerce and enterprise experience.
Arc is also scaling its leadership team, adding Head of Professional Services Marco Heuer who will leverage his deep background in global e-commerce consulting to drive Arc’s strong focus on customer implementations. Head of Account Management Julia Belanger will work with him, drawing on her experience in leading enterprise digital transformation programs across retail, hospitality, CPG, and banking industries to ensure all clients get the most out of the platform. Head of Product Matt Monahan will continue to drive Arc’s product roadmap, bringing to life innovative products for clients. Vice President of Commercial Technology and Development Jarrod Dicker will develop innovative revenue solutions for the benefit of Arc clients. Arc has also added Director of Sales Jay Freshwater who joins Vice President of Technology Sales Clancy Ryan to drive Arc’s enterprise business, working with major brands to solve their digital publishing challenges. Their work will be supported by Director of Business Development Leili Boroumand who will shape Arc’s brand message in the marketplace.
The Arc platform, which leverages advanced technologies from Amazon Web Services, powers sites across five continents, serving as the technology behind a large number of brand name publications in the top U.S. markets and around the world.
