Arc XP customer spotlight: DL News

There is no shortage of media outlets covering news in the world of cryptocurrency and decentralized finance. Yet, newly founded DL News saw a gap in today’s mainstream, and often heavily biased, crypto coverage that it aims to fill as a fully independent outlet who delivers responsible, in-depth coverage of cryptocurrency and decentralized finance without bias.

The news arm of crypto data analytics leader, DefiLlama, DL News was built to be different in many ways – from hiring media veterans from both TradFi (traditional finance) and crypto backgrounds in leadership to its stance on operating free from advertising support.

“We’re not a traditional crypto media. We’re not a traditional mainstream media,” said Roosa Kivistö, Head of Strategy for DL News. “We’re new and we’re different from anything else out there. Our goal is to deliver the right balance of content that appeals to crypto natives and the crypto curious, on the back of solid, trustworthy journalism. We don’t accept sponsors or advertisers, so we are able to investigate and deliver our work without any influence or bias.”

As DL News built its founding team and newsroom with leaders from the likes of Politico, Insider, and Bloomberg, they also sought the right digital partner. Being a digital-only outlet, DL News success relies heavily on providing a great user experience and having a user interface that signals their difference from existing crypto media outlets.

Prioritizing speed to market and ease of use

As a newly formed and growing organization, DL News needed a digital partner who could not only enable them to get their site to market fast, but whose tools were easy for their growing newsroom to use.

After assessing the tools their team had used in previous organizations, exploring additional content management and website experience providers, and speaking to peers, DL News selected Arc XP.

From concept to launch in 85 days

Following the collapse of crypto exchange FTX, it became imperative for DL News to launch their site so that the newsroom could begin publishing its in-depth coverage of the crypto world.

DL News’ implementation on Arc XP’s agile content management system, Arc XP Content, and development of their website on the Arc XP Experience Platform began in early November.

With a microservices foundation built on AWS, Arc XP quickly provisioned DL News’ environment and opened the doors for their developers to begin building their site. Using Arc XP’s out-of-the-box page templates and the advisory support of Arc XP’s customer enablement team, dlnews.com was launched just 85 days after the project kicked off. Today, DL News’ developers leverage the flexibility of Arc XP’s developer platform to further customize their site and create new features at record speed.

“The feedback has been phenomenal. The site looks clean, professional and exactly how we wanted our brand to be portrayed,” says Kivistö. “And the response to our content has been fantastic, already regarded as some of the strongest crypto and defi coverage available today.”
